Working with musician Don Cooper
We worked with artist Don Cooper to discover the connections among math, science and music. Fractions came to life as students came up with their own rhythms and played the measures with instruments in the percussion family.
Working with visual artists L.B. and Anne Cubberly
We worked with Resident Artists Anne Cubberly and L.B. to make bracelets and weave baskets. These projects were connected to our study of Native Americans. We learned how symbols were very important to the Native Americans and how they used storytelling to explain the world around them. This learning was extended in our own symbolic bracelets that told the story of us. We also discovered how the Native Americans made baskets and why they were so important to them.
